Back on familiar grounds, this time tag-Teaming with Voutloos back into the harder dance scene. One day you’re doing a corporate 3d viz, the next day you’re creating mad scientist animated X-mens! Ain’t life grand? Well, since it’s online I suppose it’s no longer a secret , so here’s something we can also do for you @ fuelled:
The first part of our collaboration with Voutloos was a piece commissioned by the boys from the label “Scantraxx” in celebration of their 10th anniversary. Which involved us turning a rough sketch by Frank into a 3d model, which would then later be printed in 3D. So, first off, Frank sketched and illustrated several options before moving to the next step which would be turning the 2d illustration into 3d. Besides the fact that a 3d printer can’t print a 2d sketch and needs a 3d file, the client can see what the printed model would look like before it’s actually made. Turning and spinning the 3d model in every direction and seeing it from whatever angle. Saving time and money, seeing how a 3d model on the screen is more easy to edit and adjust than a real life fully 3D printed object.
So, after multiple edits and updates on the 2d illustrations the final image was approved and send to us to be modelled in 3d. This, off course, also included many updates and edits before finally rendering the image as shown at the bottom. Besides the fact they wanted it printed in 3d they loved the 3d model so much they requested several still renders from multiple angles to be used on print as well!
To illustrate what I’ve described above, I’ve included Frank’s sketches and illustration in the image below to show the pipeline in which we worked. From rough pencil sketch to fully animated 3d model. Constantly updating either eachother or the cliënt in order to keep things flowing as smooth as possible.

The follow up of this project would include some 3d work to be used on print and communication for a huge dance event held for this occasion. This event would be organised by the ladds from Q-dance, so they needed some artwork as well. Based on the same X (for ten years off course) theme as the 3d model, Frank from Voutloos designed a centerpiece to be used for the event. Fuelled would then in turn, translate the whole shebang into 3d, wrap this puppy up and knock it straight out of the park!

Note to all: Fuelled provided the 3d still image for this one, no more, no less. We wouldn’t want to go and ruffle the right feathers in the wrong way now would we? Ow, and, no actual puppies were wrapped up and knocked out of any park.
